Images...

The first part of this assignment is called THE IRON MADIEN. The beginning of this is so true. Every girl strives to be like the women in magazines. Its sickening, but all women do it. I mean, even men do it. When women look in magazines and strive to be like the women they see, they are setting themselves up for disappointment. It is physically impossible to be completely flawless. Showing women on magazines that have been air brushed, just makes day by day life harder on the average women.
The theory/thought that there is a "beauty contest in life" is completely true. No matter what, everyday people are striving to be better looking than someone else. People want to be skinner, prettier, have better hair, better legs, bigger muscles, whiter teeth, smaller pores...etc, etc.
Being thin is a very popular thing now a days, in this reading i found that a model a generation or so ago weighed 8% less than the average woman, but now models are finding themselves 95% less than the average woman. If that isn't a reality check, I don't know what is. 95% is an outrageous number for people to be striving to be like, it is nearly impossible.
Overall this first part of the reading assignment really made me angry. It made me realize how much we let television, people's thoughts and the media tell us how we should be. Its ridiculous that we allow ourselves to fall into that shallow trap, but we do anyway.
I found the second part of the assignment very interesting, the fact that an ad sends you different messages just by where their eyes are gazing. The idea and make of a re-write is awesome. I think it portrays an image that most people want to say and think, but won't until someone makes that first step and does a re-write. Last but not least, my personal favorite is all of the Public Health Messages. Those are the ones I pay the most attention to, and in order to do that they must be eye catching, and the ones shown do that very very well.
